Chapter Two
The importance of diversity within the classroom cannot be stressed enough. It is crucial for teachers to remember that every child is different. Each child comes from a different background, they have different strengths, weaknesses, interests, and ways of learning. Many different strategies must be implemented throughout the day so you can reach each and every child. I am currently observing in a kindergarden classroom. I love the classroom. Each and every kid is different. It doesn't take long to see each kid's strengths and weaknesses. It is so clear that each child comes from different experiences and shine the brightest under different circumstances. It is so important to develop a class plan so that throughout the day each child gets the opportunity to shine. Teachers must look at their classrooms with diversity in mind so that can discover which areas are the kids strengths and which are their weaknesses. When the teacher has a handle on that, they can highlight their strengths which will increase self efficacy and help them to improve their weaknesses. There are so many little things that can make a world of difference when dealing with a struggling student. These adaptations do not have to have detrimental effects on the majority of the students and can still help to cater to a student who has special needs. It makes me very hopeful to read about stressing diversity in the classroom. This will break the stereotypical mold of acedmic success that was more prevelant when I was in grade school and will show kids that there is not just one way to succeed. This in itself is an important lesson to convey to learners to help keep them positive and motivated.

I agree Carly. Diversity in the classroom is a great tool that teachers can use to enhance the learning abilities of their students. Even if a particular stragety is not as dominant as another for the students, I still think it is good for the students to be exposed to all the many different aspects of teaching. This will allow them to be more open, willing, and well rounded students, which in the end, I feel will have a postive outcome to the way they look at and approach other challenges in their life/future.
